"We're Simmental oxen.  Simmentals get big: bulls typically weigh 2,000 to 2,800 pounds."

"But not us.  We weigh in at 3,000 pounds, so we're two of the biggest anywhere!"

"We're pretty gentle guys, though.  We don't bite, and we're not mean."

"We are big, though, so don't jump the fence and try to come pet us.  When you're as big as we are, one false step and we'd crush your foot."

"We were born in 1998.  We're half-brothers, born about a week apart at the beginning of May.  We were owned by a nice man in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, named Billy Smith, who trained us to pull logs out of the woods.  He drove us around in a converted schoolbus."

"Sadly, that nice Mr. Smith passed away in 2004, and the family asked Mike Johnson if he'd take care of us.  Mr. Johnson said yes...he's a soft touch when it comes to animals and children."

"We don't log anymore.  Mostly, we're Personalities."

"We did our first acting gig last July in the play, The Old Homestead.  We pulled a cart.  In a big way.  We were stars, and even made New Hampshire Chronicle on Channel 9!"

"We were also Grand Marshalls of the Monadnock Humane Society's Walk for Animals."

"And we were special guests in the Monadnock Regional High School Homecoming Parade."

"Plus, we were guests of honor at the Cheshire Fair."

"We had a busy first year in 2007."

"We graze grass in the green months.  During the winter, Mr. Johnson brings us hay.  We eat about 30 of those giant round 600-pound bales that are wrapped in white plastic to look like big marshmallows.  Fifty pounds of hay a day, each!  Some appetite!"

"We like to lift and shake the bales with our horns to loosen up the goods.  We chow down, and use the loose hay as a mattress.  Can YOU lift 600 pounds with your horns?"
