"Hey, Ike, let's talk about our theatrical career!"

"OK, Buck.  Each July, Swanzey celebrates Old Home Day, a big community party."

"The two-leggers put on a play - The Old Homestead, by Denman Thompson."

"Swanzey residents have performed the play since 1939.  It's the third-longest-running outdoor performance in the country. "

What's it about?"

"Oh, some two-leggers misplace their boy and have to go to the big city to track him down.  The best part is where the oxen come in."

"That's us!"

"We were good about not eating the petunias, Ike.  Hey they looked like a tasty snack, but the two-leggers want them to decorate the stage."

"We even fit between the stage and the first row seats!"

"Well, I don't expect to get any smaller between now and this coming July.  But we had plenty of room."

"We hear attendance was up this year.  We'll take some of the credit for that, thank you."

"It was fun to hear people applaud and cheer us when we walked across."

"They did it again when we did our curtain call."

"I can't wait to do it this coming July."

"I hope even more folks come to see us."
